Great Buehler Pond

Great Buehler Pond

Great Buehler Pond is a small pond, under half an acre, in the north part of Bedford, in the part of old Billerica that became Bedford in 1729. With the smaller Little Buehler Pond beside it, it lies in the Buehler Ponds Conservation Area near Buehler Road, and Buehler Brook flows from the two ponds to Mill Brook. The town of Bedford describes the ponds as man-made; when and by whom they were dug has not been found. Bedford bought 6.4 acres around them in 1978 with State Self-Help funds and was given an adjoining three acres in 1987. No record of the pond under any older name was found.
